The WNBA offseason represents a rare opportunity for players to work on various parts of their game.
Angel Reese is leaving no stone unturned ahead of her sophomore season in the W, showing off a deadly new shot she’s added to her arsenal.

The 6ft 3in Chicago Sky forward has always been a low-post beast and rebound machine.
Reese was a walking double-double in her record-breaking maiden season in the W last year, before injuring her wrist and ultimately losing out on Rookie of the Year honors to rival Caitlin Clark.
Reese appears determined to improve on her shooting in Year 2, and specifically her corner 3.
Viral footage showed the 22-year-old practising catching and shooting, with the lefty putting up a number of 3-point attempts from the corner which she proceeded to drill.
“Put in that work,” one fan posted on X.
“She’s in the gym, puttin in work to get even better. Haters gone hate. Let em,” added another.
Others, however, were less impressed.
Some brought up NBA star Ben Simmons, a notoriously bad 3-point shooter who often goes viral in the offseason for draining 3s only to brick a ton once the season rolls around.
Others had more technical advice for Reese, suggesting she still needs to hone her shooting mechanics, which appear to still have a slight hitch, as well as her vertical.

One fan posted: “Two things I see: 1) Pause between receiving and shooting. 2) Very limited vertical. Hopefully the Sky’s coaching staff will work with Angel on getting better in these two areas.”
“Too slow of a release. Catch it with your legs bent and release it in one motion,” added a second.
“Paint be drying faster than her release,” a third commented.
“She in her Ben Simmons arc. It’s never been more over,” a fourth joked.
“Why is her right hand crossing over her left after the release? Just practice layups,” wrote a fifth.
“She’ll need to speed up her release and move her shooting pocket higher to make it repeatable at game speed,” another weighed in with.

Reese will be able to put her newfound skills to the test next month when she plays in new 3-vs-3 professional basketball league, Unrivaled.
Unrivaled — founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty and Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx — will run for eight weeks in Miami in January and consists of 36 superstar players spread across six different teams with an average salary of more than $200,000 per player.
Reese will be part of the Rose Basketball Club, coached by Nola Henry, and will be joined by teammates Chelsea Gray (Las Vegas Aces), Kahleah Copper (Phoenix Mercury), Brittney Sykes (Washington Mystics), Lexie Hull (Indiana Fever), and Azura Stevens (Los Angeles Sparks).
Speaking about her decision to play in the league, which takes place during the WNBA offseason, Reese said, “Being able to be in Miami from January to March, not having to go overseas,” was part of her decision.
“Nobody wants to go overseas. A lot of us never wanna have to go overseas, but some people do have to go overseas unfortunately, so being able to make six figures within three months, being able to be housed in Miami, just being able to get better.
“Being able to know two great players that are starting something, I think it’s amazing,” continued Reese. “3-on-3 is something that I love to do, I haven’t been able to play competitively but I think I can work on some of my individual skills because 3-on-3 exposes everything. So I’m excited for it.”
Following the conclusion of the inaugural season of Unrivaled, the 2025 WNBA regular season will tip off on Friday, May 16.
